February 2017 Meeting Minutes

Place: Albany Lion’s Club, 402 N. Cincinnati Street, Albany, WI 53502
The Board met at 6:30 PM. Board members in attendance were President- Craig Kamholz, Vice-President-Bonnie Gerner, Secretary- Sue Rieder, Treasurer-Pam Burke, Judy Gill, Ken Rankin, and Dean Reeson. Members discussed the Ag Chest selling the new Green County Plat Books. It was agreed to sell the old ones at cost and new ones for $40. Members discussed the Stephenson County Fair request to have the Green County Ag Chest trailer at the fair this year. Dates are July 5-9. Cost would be $450 plus amp service. Members discussed the need for a ¾ inch BA drill for the trailer. Craig Kamholz will talk to Wayne Monte. Pam Burke reported the cost of the PO Box has gone up.
The regular meeting of the Green County Ag Chest was called to order by President Craig Kamholz at 7:07 pm.
The opening prayer was given by Samantha Holmstrom-Blanchardville Dairy Queen
Secretary’s Report: Sue Rieder presented printed copies of the January 2017 meeting minutes. A motion to accept the January minutes was made by Ken Rankin and seconded by Elizabeth McGuire-Brodhead Dairy Queen. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Pam Burke presented printed copies of the February 2017 financial report. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Bonnie Gerner and seconded by Judy Gill. Motion carried.
Correspondences and Announcements: None
Finalized version of 2017 Green County Ag Chest calendar presented. Sue Rieder encouraged members to pay attention to meeting locations.
Sue Hellenbrand discussed BOTF. Next committee meeting is this coming Saturday. People are encouraged to like and share the Green County Breakfast on the Farm Facebook page. Possible bus pick-up sites could be Monroe, Albany and New Glarus.
Dairy Day schedule is cattle show, June 17. The Queen judging and banquet will be June 23 with the parade on June 24.
Pam Burke reported the Green County Ag Chest PO Box was temporarily closed for a couple of weeks. If anyone’s mailing to the Ag Chest was returned, please contact Pam Burke. PO Box rates went up this year.
Danielle Schneider and Travis Skattum, students from Blackhawk Technical College and part of the PAS (Post-secondary Agriculture Students), presented information that 11 members qualified at the State PAS competition and will competing at the National Conference in St. Louis, MO the week of March 13th. They were asking for assistance in cost. After discussion, a motion to give $100 per student attending, for a total of $1100 was made by Dean Reeson and seconded by Ken Rankin. Motion carried.
Past Queens introduced themselves.
Queens present were Emily Streiff- Green County Dairy Princess, Stephanie James-Argyle, Clarice Loeffelholz- Belleville, Samantha Holmstrom-Blanchardville, Elizabeth McGuire-Brodhead, Madeline Halvorson-Brooklyn, Brielle Hayden-Monroe, and Erin Lehr- Monticello.
Elizabeth McGuire-Brodhead Dairy Queen requested funds for attending the Washington Leadership Conference. A motion to give $500 to the Brodhead FFA Chapter was made by Bonnie Gerner and seconded by Judy Gill. Motion carried.
County Queens’ Chairperson Report was given by Pam Burke. March 17 will be Monroe’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. A bowling party is planned for afterwards. Another scrap booking day is planned along with more grocery promos.
2 Brodhead Dairy candidates were present and introduced themselves; Emily Bliss and Haleigh Kruse.
A motion to adjourn was made by Dean Reeson and was seconded by Ken Rankin. Motion carried.
