Green County Ag Chest

July 2017 Meeting Minutes

 

Date: Monday, July 10, 2017

Time: 7:00 PM

Place: Albany Lions Club, 402 Cincinnati St, Albany, WI  53502

 

The Board of Directors met at 6:30 PM. Members present were Craig Kamholz-President, Bonnie Gerner-Vice President, Sue Rieder-Secretary, Pam Burke-Treasurer and board members, Judy Gill, Ken Rankin, and Dean Reeson. Others attending were Julene Elmer and Rae Reeson.

Rae Reeson presented updates on the Queens at the State Fair, discussed ordering cheese tongs for the Queens and the chairperson meeting July 8.

Members discussed limiting cheese trays to 3 per event, serving grilled cheese sandwiches verses pulled pork, and the Jeglum scholarship. 

Craig Kamholz discussed ordering products and preparations for the Green County Fair i.e. tickets for workers and renting space for the freezer.

 

The regular meeting of the Green County Ag Chest was called to order by President Craig Kamholz at 7:20 PM.

 

Opening Prayer was given by Haley Mueller-Green County Dairy Queen.

 

Secretary’s Report: Sue Rieder presented printed copies of the May 2017 regular meeting minutes and the June 2017 Special Board meeting minutes. A motion to accept the both the May and June minutes was made by Pam Lawver and seconded Jillian McNeely. Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Pam Burke presented printed copies of the May through July 2017 financial report. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Ken Rankin and seconded by Pam Lawver. Motion carried.

 

Old Business:

            Correspondences/Announcements: Thank you notes were made available.

 

            Judy Gill reported that 4800 were served at the Breakfast on the Farm. There are a few outstanding bills yet. A wrap up meeting will be planned. Nancy Karlen, rural Monticello, will host the 2018 BOTF.

            Craig reported the big trailer is still in the shop, but will be done by Friday. Supplies are already in it.

            Dean and Rae Reeson reported the numbers were up for the Dairy Day Cattle Show. “It was a long day of judging.”

 

New Business:

             Bonnie Gerner discussed the Green County Fair trailer schedule. The Queens will not work past 6:30 pm. On Sunday, the trailer will be staffed by the Ag Chest Board Members. Bonnie Gerner reminded the group, Boone County Fair is August 8-13. Please sign up to work.

            Sue Rieder thanked the Queens for their work at the Friday night FFA Alumni Fish Boil and the Sunday morning Community Club Chicken B-B-Q and participating in the parade during the Monticello Homecoming.

            Haley Reeson, Senior Herdsman, presented information of the Green County Junior State Fair Dairy Exhibitors. 23 kids will be going with 43-45 head of cattle. Financial help was discussed. A motion to donate $1250 to the Green County Junior State Fair Dairy Exhibitors was made by Bonnie Gerner and seconded by Judy Gill. Motion carried. A motion to give $35 to each State Fair livestock exhibitor was made by Julene Elmer and seconded by Pam Burke. Motion carried.

            Mikayla Brey-Bellevile Dairy Queen presented information on her trip to Washington DC for the FFA National Leadership Conference. A motion was made to donate $250 to the Belleville FFA Chapter to help with trip expenses was made by Bonnie Gerner and seconded by Judy Gill. Motion carried.

 

Past Queens Introductions

 

Queens present were: Haley Mueller-Green County Dairy Queen, Paige Bittner-Green County Dairy Princess, Bailey Rodenbaugh-Argyle Dairy Queen, Mikayla Brey-Belleville Dairy Queen, Skye Hoffman-Blanchardville Dairy Queen, Skylar Stanley-Brodhead Dairy Queen, Kaitlyn Fey-Browntown Dairy Queen, Jaiden Walker-Juda Dairy Queen, Stephanie Kolden-Monroe Dairy Queen and Hailey Raymond-New Glarus Dairy Queen. Queens introduced themselves by giving a fun fact about themselves.

 

County Queen Chairperson’s Report: Rae Reeson reported on past and upcoming events for the Queens and Chairpersons. Rae states she will be using Facebook for getting information out to the Queens.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Pam Lawver and was seconded by Ken Rankin. Motion carried.

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM
